Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: Southampton, across different sites
Hours: Monday- Friday with 1 in 4 weekend rota
Salary: Up to £30,000 with performance bonus available
Your New Client
Our client is a successful sports business, looking for a skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance Operative to support the preparation and upkeep of elite-level playing surfaces.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a dynamic environment where precision, quality, and pride in the pitch matter every day.
Your Role: As a key member of our Grounds Team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of playing surfaces to the highest professional standard.
This includes:
Preparing and maintaining playing surfaces for training sessions and matches
Performing minor construction and landscaping tasks under guidance
Operating and maintaining grounds machinery and equipment
Ensuring safe and correct use, storage, and disposal of chemicals and pesticides (if licensed)
Supporting and executing seasonal and weekly turf care programmes
Conducting basic risk assessments and responding appropriately in emergencies
Supervising part-time staff and ensuring high safety and work standards
Adhering to all safeguarding policies relating to children and vulnerable adults
What My Client Is Looking For:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in sports turf or grounds maintenance
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in turf maintenance or a relevant field
Proficient use of rotary and cylinder mowers, tractors, line markers, etc.
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
PA1, PA2, and PA6 pesticide spraying certifications
Clean UK driving licence
