Site Operations Manager

Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (42 hours per week, including a 30-minute lunch break)
Reporting to: Managing Director

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Site Operations Manager to join our leadership team in Chesterfield. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the company's Operations Strategic Plan, ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and full compliance with industry standards, Health & Safety requirements, and ISO accreditations.

This is a hands-on leadership position overseeing all site operations, with responsibility for six direct reports and approximately 42 employees across the site. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving performance, developing teams, and supporting business growth through effective operational management.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate, coach and develop operational teams, ensuring clear communication, performance expectations and accountability.
Manage the day-to-day production and dispatch of goods, ensuring customer orders are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
Deliver operational objectives and budgets through effective planning, monitoring and performance management.
Develop and implement KPI frameworks to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Support and lead organisational change initiatives, ensuring teams are equipped with the skills and training required for success.
Manage high-value raw material purchasing activities.
Ensure effective resource planning and utilisation to meet production demands in a cost-effective manner.
Maintain compliance with all internal and external Health & Safety requirements and ISO standards.
Promote a positive safety culture through workplace initiatives and compliance systems, including Evotix.
Support the Maintenance Lead in ensuring compliance with TPM schedules and site maintenance activities.
Identify, manage and escalate operational risks and issues, providing practical solutions and recommendations.
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and operational standards.
Collaborate with Engineering and Design teams to support prototype development and new product implementation.
Contribute to the wider success of the business through additional operational responsibilities as required.

About You

You will be a strong operational leader with a proven track record of managing manufacturing or production environments. You will be comfortable leading teams, managing performance and delivering results within a fast-paced operational setting.

Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).

Skills & Experience

Experience managing production, manufacturing or operational teams.
Strong people management, coaching and leadership skills.
Experience working with operational budgets and performance targets.
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and ISO standards.
Experience developing and monitoring KPIs.
Strong planning, organisational and resource management capabilities.
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Purchasing and supplier management experience would be advantageous.
