About the Role:

Cover People are currently recruiting for an English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Rochdale from September 2026 until Easter 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced educators to teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and GCSE. The school has a supportive leadership team, strong behaviour systems and a collaborative English department focused on helping students achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be joining a welcoming department where staff work closely together to share best practice and deliver engaging lessons that inspire a love of English. ECTs will benefit from experienced colleagues and ongoing support, whilst experienced teachers will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact within a well-established team.

M1–M6 Teachers will be paid to scale from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality English teaching in line with the national curriculum
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and GCSE English Language and Literature
• Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively
• Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment
• Differentiate lessons to support students of varying abilities and needs
• Support the academic and personal development of all learners
• Contribute positively to department planning and wider school initiatives

Requirements:

• QTS or equivalent UK teaching qualification
• Experience teaching KS3 & GCSE English
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• A passion for English and raising student attainment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Right to work in the UK
