IBM i Developer

Hybrid Working | Modernisation Programme | Business-Critical Systems

Competitive Salary + Bonus + Strong Pension

We're supporting a well-established financial services organisation as they continue to invest in and evolve their core technology platforms.

This is an opportunity for an IBM i Developer to join a collaborative technology team working on systems that sit at the heart of the business. You'll be involved in the development, enhancement and support of business-critical applications, while also contributing to ongoing modernisation initiatives and improvements across the wider technology function.

Unlike many IBM i opportunities, this role isn't solely focused on maintaining existing systems. The organisation is actively investing in the future of its platform and is looking for developers who can bring ideas, challenge existing approaches and help shape how things are done going forward.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing, enhancing and supporting IBM i applications
  • Working closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements
  • Designing, coding, testing and implementing software changes
  • Supporting business-critical systems and resolving production issues when required
  • Contributing to platform improvements and modernisation initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working
  • Working within a collaborative Kanban-based delivery environment

What We're Looking For

We're primarily interested in speaking with developers who have experience working on the IBM i platform and are comfortable developing in RPG.

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

  • IBM i/AS400/iSeries
  • RPG, RPGLE or ILE RPG
  • DB2
  • SQL
  • Application support and enhancement
  • Systems integration
  • Financial services or other regulated environments

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes ownership of their work and is keen to contribute ideas and improvements.

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to work on a large-scale, business-critical platform
  • Ongoing modernisation and improvement programmes
  • Environment that encourages innovation and challenging the status quo
  • Strong work-life balance with hybrid working
  • Competitive benefits package including bonus and enhanced pension
  • Long-term career opportunity within a stable and growing organisation
  • Collaborative and supportive technology team

RSG Plc is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
