Senior Mortgage Underwriter (Complex Lending)
£275 - £325 per day
6 months - potential for extension.
Remote with potential for very occasional travel.

Senior Underwriter experienced in complex lending with current mandate required to join an award winning building society.

We need a "safe pair of hands" who can hit the ground running, immediately take on an active lending mandate, and help manage a high-volume pipeline of complex, intermediary-led mortgage applications.

Key Deliverables:

• Provide immediate, mandated manual underwriting capacity across DIPs, FMAs, and completions.
• Assess complex credit profiles, with a specific focus on complex income structures and self-build finance.
• Manage high-level broker communications, delivering prompt, pragmatic, and commercially aware lending decisions.
• Navigate the pipeline efficiently using core systems (Finova/MS Teams) while adhering to strict MCOB, TCF, and Consumer Duty regulations.
• Provide mandate-level sign-off for more junior members of the underwriting team when required.

The Ideal Contractor:

• A proven interim professional or a highly experienced permanent underwriter available at short notice.
• Must have recent experience holding a senior lending mandate within a Building Society or Specialist Lender.
• Deep technical knowledge of manual underwriting, self-build, and complex income.
• CeMAP qualified.
