Location - Milton Keynes - 60% onsite per week
Duration - 6 months initially
Rate - £500 - £600pd (inside IR35)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to join a high-profile programme environment, supporting the delivery of complex projects and transformation initiatives. This role will play a key part in establishing, maintaining, and driving effective risk management practices across a dynamic delivery landscape.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, programme teams, and governance functions to ensure risks are proactively identified, assessed, and mitigated, enabling informed decision-making and successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of risk management frameworks, processes, and reporting
  • Maintain and manage programme and project risk registers (RAID)
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops and ongoing risk reviews
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis where required
  • Support the development of mitigation and contingency plans
  • Provide clear and concise risk reporting to senior stakeholders and governance boards
  • Ensure alignment with organisational risk policies and compliance standards
  • Work collaboratively with PMO, delivery teams, and assurance functions
  • Promote a strong risk-aware culture across the programme environment
  • Support auditing and assurance activities where required

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Risk Manager role within programmes, portfolios, or large-scale projects
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and methodologies
  • Experience working in structured delivery environments (eg, PMO, programme delivery, transformation)
  • Ability to manage risk registers and deliver insightful reporting
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience facilitating workshops and engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of governance, assurance, and compliance processes
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP, or Agile (desirable)
  • Experience using risk management tools and reporting systems
