Risk Manager (SC Clearance Preferred)
Location - Milton Keynes - 60% onsite per week
Duration - 6 months initially
Rate - £500 - £600pd (inside IR35)

OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to join a high-profile programme environment, supporting the delivery of complex projects and transformation initiatives. This role will play a key part in establishing, maintaining, and driving effective risk management practices across a dynamic delivery landscape.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders, programme teams, and governance functions to ensure risks are proactively identified, assessed, and mitigated, enabling informed decision-making and successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of risk management frameworks, processes, and reporting
- Maintain and manage programme and project risk registers (RAID)
- Facilitate risk identification workshops and ongoing risk reviews
- Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis where required
- Support the development of mitigation and contingency plans
- Provide clear and concise risk reporting to senior stakeholders and governance boards
- Ensure alignment with organisational risk policies and compliance standards
- Work collaboratively with PMO, delivery teams, and assurance functions
- Promote a strong risk-aware culture across the programme environment
- Support auditing and assurance activities where required
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Risk Manager role within programmes, portfolios, or large-scale projects
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and methodologies
- Experience working in structured delivery environments (eg, PMO, programme delivery, transformation)
- Ability to manage risk registers and deliver insightful reporting
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience facilitating workshops and engaging with senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of governance, assurance, and compliance processes
- Familiarity with methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP, or Agile (desirable)
- Experience using risk management tools and reporting systems
