Mechanical Technician (Fixed-Term Contract – 2 Years) Oxfordshire
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to join a busy engineering environment on a 2-year fixed-term contract. This hands-on role will involve supporting the installation, assembly, maintenance, and operation of a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment.
Working as part of a skilled team, you will contribute to the maintenance and development of essential infrastructure while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
Key responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician:
* Carry out mechanical assembly, installation, and maintenance activities.
* Support the operation and upkeep of plant and engineering equipment.
* Assist with equipment inspections, fault finding, and preventative maintenance.
* Work alongside engineers and technicians to support ongoing projects and equipment upgrades.
* Help prepare maintenance documentation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
* Maintain stock levels of spare parts and identify replacement components when required.
* Support health, safety, and quality procedures across all activities.
* Contribute to a variety of engineering projects as required.
Essential requirements of the Mechanical Technician:
* Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering experience.
* Experience carrying out mechanical assembly and maintenance work.
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* Flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
Desirable skills of the Mechanical Technician:
* Experience using workshop machinery and tools.
* Basic electrical assembly experience.
* Ability to read wiring diagrams.
* Understanding of electrical safety principles.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
