City Centre Based SEMH Teaching Assistant
Supporting Pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (Aged 11–18)

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary‑age provision in the heart of the city centre. You will work with pupils aged 11–18 who have EHCPs for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing consistent, relationship‑based support that helps them re‑engage with learning and develop emotional resilience.

What You’ll Be Doing
Delivering 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH needs

Using holistic nurture approaches to build trust, confidence and emotional safety.
Applying positive consequence therapy to help pupils understand behaviour, choices and outcomes.
You will de de-escalating perceived challenging behaviour.
Supporting pupils to regulate emotions, manage transitions and access learning
Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
Contributing to personalised strategies outlined in each pupil’s EHCP.
First for Education are Looking For those with experience supporting young people with SEMH, ASC, trauma, or behavioural needs
A calm, empathetic and resilient approach
Ability to build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who may struggle with trust and build pupil confidence using holistic nurture and positive consequence approaches.
A passion for helping young people overcome barriers and thrive.

- consistent 8.30-3.15 working day Monday- Friday.
- ⁠195 days of work within an academic year.
- payment every Friday in arrears
- ⁠a dedicated First for Education consultant
- ⁠£98.21- £100 per day
