Salary: £1,800 - £2,200 per month

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and make positive academic, social, and emotional progress.

The role would suit candidates with previous SEN experience, Teaching Assistant experience, or graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience in education, psychology, or child development.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN

Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development

Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

Assist with classroom activities and targeted interventions

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff

Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

Essential:

GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above)

Experience working with children or within an SEN setting

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs

Teaching Assistant experience within a school setting

Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject
