General Teaching Assistant (Year 5 & Year 6)

I am currently working with an outstanding primary school in North West London seeking to recruit a General Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Years 5 and 6, helping them prepare for Key Stage 2 SATs and make strong academic progress during this important stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

Support pupils individually and in small groups across the Year 5 and Year 6 curriculum.
Deliver targeted interventions in English and Mathematics to help pupils prepare effectively for KS2 SATs.
Provide additional support to pupils who require help with confidence, attainment, and exam preparation.
Work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging learning activities and monitor pupil progress.
Support the development of pupils' literacy, numeracy, and study skills.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate for this Teaching Assistant Vacancy:

Must have excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to model accurate grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and communication skills for pupils.
Must have strong knowledge and confidence in Key Stage 2 Mathematics, including arithmetic, reasoning, and problem-solving.
Previous experience working with primary-aged children is desirable.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
A positive, resilient, and caring approach to working with children.
A reliable, enthusiastic, and proactive team player.
A commitment to supporting pupils to achieve their full academic potential.
