Contract/Project
Our client, a prominent name in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a contract FPGA Engineer to join their esteemed team. This role is centred in the Surveillance Sector, where you will play a crucial part in developing firmware and working on FPGAs that support both proven surveillance radar systems and breakthrough next-generation technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing high-performance firmware for critical surveillance radar solutions like Osprey and Seaspray
Engaging in requirement capture, architecture definition, design maturation, integration, and qualification support of next-generation surveillance radars
Analysing system-level requirements and capturing/deriving detailed firmware requirements
Utilising technical expertise in firmware design techniques and tools, from VHDL to place-and-route
Specifying timing and area constraints for efficient FPGA place-and-route
Integrating and debugging complex systems where firmware interacts with hardware and software
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
Mentoring junior team members to enhance their skills in firmware development
Job Requirements:
Degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related field
Ability to analyse system level requirements and derive detailed firmware requirements
Experience in firmware design techniques and tools, from VHDL to place-and-route
Experience with FPGA architectures such as system-on-chip (e.g., Xilinx Versal)
Proficiency in specifying timing and area constraints for FPGA place-and-route
Experience in integrating and debugging complex systems involving firmware, hardware, and software
Experience working in mixed-discipline teams
Due to the nature of the work, five years of UK residency and the capability to achieve full SC security clearance are required
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with auto-generated code using model-driven engineering tools like MATLAB and Simulink
Proficiency in design tools such as Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM
Experience with Siemens tools like HDL Designer and QuestaSim
Familiarity with using tools like DOORs and ReqTracer
Experience within the defence industry
Location/Hybrid Working Requirements:
This role is based on-site in Edinburgh. You can expect to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week, with more time on site required to meet project demands.
If you are an experienced FPGA Engineer eager to contribute to breakthrough surveillance radar technologies, we encourage you to apply now to join our client's dynamic team
