Electronics Technician (Contract - Outside IR35)
Location: Cambridge
Type: Part time
Length: End of July
We are working with an innovative medical technology client based in the Cambridge area who are seeking an Electronics Technician to support them during a busy period of development and prototype builds.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented technician with strong cable assembly and micro-soldering experience to contribute to cutting-edge product development within a collaborative R&D environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in fine pitch cable assembly and rework (down to ~0.5mm)
Strong micro-soldering capability and PCB rework experience
Experience with box build and cable integration (strain relief, shielding)
Confident working from technical drawings and documentation
Skilled in using precision tools for small-scale electronics
High attention to detail and consistently high-quality workmanship
Desirable Skills & Experience
Wire harnessing or complex cable assembly experience
SMT soldering (down to 0402) and fine pitch packages (QFN/QFP)
IPC certification or equivalent standards experience
PCB modification (trace cutting, mod wiring, solder mask exposure)
Schematic and PCB layout understanding
Basic fault finding, oscilloscope use
CAD / 3D printing for jigs and fixtures
RJ45 termination
Electrical safety knowledge (mains-connected equipment)
Additional Information
Part-time role with flexibility on days/hours
Initial contract until July, with potential extension or permanent conversion
Collaborative R&D environment focused on advanced product development
Due to demand the successful candidate will need to be immediately available, local, and have full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship will be provided)
