RATE OF PAY:
Weekdays £15/hr
Weekends £16/hr
Bank Holidays Time and a half

LOCATION: Cullompton Devon

ROLE SUMMARY

A supportive and engaging Enabler / Support Worker is required for a 12 year old boy living at home with his family in Cullompton Devon. He is the youngest of five siblings and the household is active with two dogs and several cats.

He enjoys online gaming especially Roblox and is looking for someone who can connect with him on a peer like level similar to an older sibling. He has a therapy dog and enjoys activities related to the dog’s training. He also uses powerchairs in the community and requires some support with food preparation and eating.

This role focuses on enabling him to engage fully in daily life supporting both learning and therapy and sharing his interests while promoting independence. No prior care experience is required as training will be provided. What matters most is enthusiasm dependability and the ability to build a positive and supportive relationship.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the client during tutoring and therapy sessions
Prepare food and assist with eating as needed
Join in with gaming and leisure activities encouraging his interests
Assist with the training and care of his therapy dog
Accompany him on outings and community activities using powerchairs
Promote independence and social participation
Work flexibly alongside the family and wider support team
Maintain clear and accurate records as required
Respect household routines and family preferences

OTHER DUTIES

Attend mandatory and specialist training to maintain required competencies
Participate in staff meetings supervision and reflective practice sessions
Complete all documentation accurately and promptly
Use electronic systems appropriately such as records and email
Keep an accurate record of hours worked
Provide feedback to the family or representatives regarding progress or concerns
Follow household rules guidelines and care protocols
Carry out light domestic tasks related to the client’s care such as cleaning equipment or preparing supplies
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Enthusiasm patience and reliability
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Willingness to learn and undertake training
Comfortable in a lively family home with pets

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
Shared interests in gaming and technology
Experience supporting children or young people
Driving licence

Personal Attributes:
Friendly and approachable able to build rapport in an older sibling style
Flexible and adaptable to changing needs
Professional and respectful with clear boundaries
Empathetic kind and non judgmental

Essential Requirements:
Enhanced DBS check funded by employer and DBS Update Service registration
Right to work in the UK
