Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference?

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with complex additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a strong SEN background who is passionate about helping children thrive both academically and socially.

The pupil has ASD and ADHD, is pre-verbal, has a very short attention span, and requires consistent, skilled support throughout the school day. Due to increasing behavioural challenges, including occasional physical behaviours towards peers, the school is looking for a calm, resilient and proactive individual who can build a positive relationship and provide the structure and support the child needs to succeed.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with ASD and ADHD
• Implement strategies to support communication, engagement and emotional regulation
• Help manage challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner
• Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff and external professionals
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupils individual needs
• Foster a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have:

• Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Experience working with ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties or complex needs
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
• The ability to build positive relationships and maintain clear boundaries
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children
