Kenton Black are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor in Aberdeen.
The client, a well-established and reputable housebuilder, are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of residential developments across the North-East. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in managing project costs and ensuring financial efficiency from inception through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing all commercial aspects of residential construction projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Preparing cost plans, budgets, and tender documentation
- Procuring and managing subcontractor packages, including negotiation of terms and conditions
- Monitoring project costs, valuations, and cash flow forecasts
- Managing variations, claims, and final accounts
- Conducting site visits to assess progress and value completed works
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and senior management
- Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and identifying opportunities for cost savings
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to senior stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
About You
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
- Strong track record working on residential projects
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Good understanding of construction processes and cost management principles
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in relevant software and commercial reporting tools
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience working for a housebuilder or main contractor
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB)
- Strong understanding of the local market
