Are you an experienced and passionate SENCO looking for a rewarding opportunity within a specialist SEN school in Harrow?
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a highly supportive school that works with children and young people aged 5–16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), alongside additional needs including ADHD and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs).
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop whole-school SEND provision, ensuring that every learner receives personalised, high-quality support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role
As SENCO, you will play a key strategic and operational role in leading SEND provision across the school. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Therapists, Parents, and External Agencies to ensure all pupils receive appropriate and effective support.
You will be responsible for overseeing EHCP implementation, coordinating interventions, driving inclusive practice, and ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage SEND provision across the school
* Oversee EHCP assessments, reviews, and implementation
* Coordinate and develop personalised learning plans for pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and additional needs
* Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure high-quality inclusive practice
* Lead on intervention strategies and progress monitoring
* Liaise with external agencies including CAMHS, Educational Psychologists, Social Care, and Local Authority teams
* Support staff training and professional development in SEND and inclusion
* Ensure full compliance with SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements
* Contribute to whole-school improvement and inclusion strategy
* Work closely with families to support pupil outcomes and engagement
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential
* NASENCO qualification (or willingness to complete, depending on role level)
* Proven experience working within SEND, SEMH, ASD or specialist education settings
* Strong understanding of EHCP processes and SEND legislation
* Experience leading or coordinating SEND provision (SENCO, Assistant SENCO, Inclusion Lead, or similar)
* Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
* Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
