AI Software Development Engineer

The Objective Seeking software engineers specialised in applied artificial intelligence to build and deploy advanced large language model (LLM) solutions for highly regulated UK institutions, including defence, national security, and healthcare sectors.

Core Requirements

• Nationality & Clearance: Must be a British citizen holding an active UK security clearance (SC minimum, Developed Vetting highly preferred).
• Technical Core: Deep background in software engineering, primarily utilising Python.
• AI/ML Domain: Practical commercial experience with generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), modern AI frameworks, autonomous agents, and natural language processing.
• Infrastructure: Proficiency in cloud-first architectures and container orchestration.
• Soft Skills: Highly capable communicator with a track record of direct, successful client engagement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous experience operating within defence technology, national intelligence, or broader government/public sector tech.
• Background in fast-paced, high-growth technology environments (eg, AI scale-ups).
• Forward-thinking system architect; strongly averse to Legacy IT mentalities.
• Self-starter capable of owning the entire product life cycle autonomously, from initial concept to live deployment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Currently active DV status.
• Hands-on familiarity with prominent open-source NLP and machine learning ecosystems.
• Full-stack capability using modern web technologies and Back End languages.
• Strong foundational knowledge in advanced search and information retrieval systems.
