Freelance Site Engineer – Civil Engineering
Location: Berwick-upon-Tweed
Contract Duration: 6–12 Months
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Rate: Competitive Day Rate (DOE)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a major civil engineering project based in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure works, including roads, drainage, sewers, and associated civil engineering packages. This is an excellent long-term freelance opportunity with an expected duration of 6–12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting out and surveying works in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
Managing and maintaining accurate site records.
Producing and reviewing as-built drawings and survey data.
Ensuring works are delivered to the required quality, programme, and safety standards.
Coordinating with site management, subcontractors, and project teams.
Conducting quality inspections and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
Assisting with planning and sequencing of works.
Identifying and resolving technical issues on site.
Supporting the commercial and project management teams with progress reporting and documentation.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Site Engineer within the civil engineering sector.
Strong background in roads, drainage, sewers, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
Proficient in setting out using GPS and robotic total station equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
CSCS Card.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
