Deputy Finance Business Partner - Children & Young People - Interim
Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a Local Authority in Berkshire with an interim Deputy Finance Business Partner requirement within Children & Young People / Education Finance.
This role will provide senior financial support across Education and Learning, Children's Social Care and Early Help, with a strong focus on DSG funding, schools budgets and statutory DfE returns. The post acts as technical lead for DSG budgets, including school funding allocations and annual DfE returns such as Section 251.
What's on Offer
£600 PAYE per day
£769.54 Umbrella per day
3-6 month contract
Hybrid working - 1-2 days per week in Berkshire
Initial first week likely to require more onsite presence to meet the team, to be negotiated
The Role
Lead on Dedicated Schools Grant funding, schools budget regulations and local funding formula work
Complete and advise on key DfE returns, including Section 251
Support budget setting, budget monitoring, final accounts and financial planning across CYP services
Provide robust challenge and financial advice to senior stakeholders, budget holders and Schools Forum
Manage and support a small finance team covering school funding and accountancy support
Support Children's Services capital budgets where required
About You
Strong local authority Education Finance experience
Robust knowledge of DSG funding, schools budget regulations and maintained school finance
Proven experience completing DfE returns, especially Section 251
Confident business partner able to challenge services and explain complex information clearly
Schools capital budget experience would be helpful
CCAB/CIMA qualified or part-qualified considered, depending on experience
