Due to continued demand and operational growth within our Weld and Machine Shop, we are looking to recruit an experienced Machinist to join our Glasgow facility.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, precision-driven role where you will play a key part in delivering high-quality machined components aligned to both customer specifications and internal quality standards.

Operating within a fast-paced, highly collaborative workshop, you will be responsible for running and setting machines, interpreting job requirements, and ensuring components are produced safely, accurately, and efficiently.

No two days are the same — you may move between short production runs and bespoke, customer-driven work, requiring adaptability, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving capability.

Essential Experience, Qualifications and Competencies:

* Proven experience as a Machinist / Manual Lathe Operator / Setter

* Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and technical drawings

* High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and accuracy

* Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively

* Strong team working ethic with the ability to work independently

Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies:

* Recognised apprenticeship or engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent)

* Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or bespoke machining environments

* Exposure to working within quality-controlled environments

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Set up and operate machines in line with job specifications and procedures

* Interpret job tickets, drawings, and route cards to ensure correct production

* Verify tooling, materials, and documentation prior to machining

* Carry out first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks during production

* Monitor machine performance and cutting tools to maintain quality standards

* Ensure all components meet drawing requirements, including gauging and finishing

* Identify and segregate non-conforming parts and support rework where required

* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times

* Support wider manufacturing operations and work collaboratively with welding and inspection teams

Why Hydrasun

* Work within a collaborative, highly skilled machine shop team

* Exposure to both production and bespoke engineering work

* A role that is challenging, varied, and critical to operational success

* Opportunities to take ownership and develop your capability

* A business built on safety, quality, integrity, and innovation
