Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Term time only
Start: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Class Teacher to join our Newton Abbot site, working with younger pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our pupils have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences, and they need a teacher who can offer both high-quality learning and unwavering emotional support.

What You’ll Do

Planning and delivering adaptive, engaging lessons that meet a wide range of learning and emotional needs

Building strong, trusting relationships that support pupils’ engagement, confidence and progress

Taking a relational and therapeutic approach, recognising that behaviour is communication

Providing high-quality pastoral support alongside academic teaching

Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent, joined-up provision

Maintaining high expectations for learning, personal development and emotional growth

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a teacher who is not only skilled, but deeply committed to making a difference.

QTS/ PGCE/ degree is required

Is primary-trained with strong, reflective classroom practice

Has experience of — or a strong interest in — SEMH/SEND education

Is resilient, calm under pressure and solution-focused

Understands the importance of relationships, attachment and emotional safety

Values teamwork and contributes positively to a collaborative, supportive staff culture

Driving licence is required
