My client, a specialist engineering organisation operating within the maritime and defence sector, is looking for a Buyer to join its procurement team. This role will focus on sourcing materials, components, and services while building strong supplier relationships and supporting business-wide procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Purchase goods, materials, and services to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules
* Raise purchase orders and manage procurement documentation
* Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues
* Support supplier audits and performance reviews
* Maintain accurate procurement data within ERP systems
* Contribute to continuous improvement across purchasing processes
Requirements
* Experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
* Understanding of UK contract law and procurement regulations
* Experience using ERP systems and procurement software
* Strong Microsoft Excel and administrative skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
* SAP experience and CIPS qualifications advantageous
