SEN Teacher - Autism Provision | Basildon
Location: Basildon, Essex
Contract: Permanent (Temp-to-Perm Considered)

Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance 1
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-established Local Authority-run Autism Support Provision in Basildon from September 2026.
This specialist provision supports a small group of 8 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). All pupils are verbal and benefit from a structured, nurturing environment that promotes independence, communication and academic progress.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning and delivering a tailored curriculum, working within an established autism framework and supported by a dedicated team of professionals committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
The Role
As the SEN Teacher, you will:
Lead teaching and learning within a specialist autism provision
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet individual needs
Use autism-specific strategies to support learning, communication and social development
Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews
Work collaboratively with support staff, families and external agencies
Create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has proven experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly Autism
Demonstrates excellent classroom management and behaviour support strategies
Has a strong understanding of autism-friendly teaching approaches
Is confident leading a small specialist class and managing support staff
Is passionate about improving outcomes for children with additional needsWhat's On Offer

Small class size of 8 pupils
Established Autism Support Provision
Comprehensive planning and autism framework already in place
Supportive Local Authority environment
Opportunity to secure a permanent position from SeptemberThe school is keen to meet suitable candidates as soon as possible. While the intention is to appoint permanently, a temporary-to-permanent arrangement may be considered for the right individual. At a minimum, the successful candidate would be engaged for the autumn term.
