Manufacturing Support Assistant

Stockport | Permanent | Salary: 28,000 - 30,000 DOE

A well-established defence manufacturer in Stockport is looking for a Manufacturing Support Assistant to join its Manufacturing Support team. This is a varied, hands-on support role working alongside Manufacturing Support Engineers to keep a busy production environment running smoothly.

You'll be involved in creating and maintaining technical documentation, drawings and process procedures — as well as supporting day-to-day operational needs across the factory floor. An engineering background is an advantage, but what matters most is a sharp eye for detail, good technical aptitude, and a willingness to get stuck in.

The Role

• Creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawings for cutting tools and factory layouts

• Generating and manipulating 3D models to support offline programming activity

• Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operator set-up documentation

• Producing set-up drawings and supporting imagery as required

• Reviewing and assisting with operator set-up procedures

• Ordering tooling for machines and operators

• Maintaining tooling and fixture drawings

• Updating routings in SAP, including operation narratives and cycle times

• Creating and maintaining project plans

Essential Requirements

• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Competent with Microsoft Office suite

• Good general computer skills

• Able to work both independently and as part of a team

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Reliable, organised and comfortable managing your own workload

Desirable Skills (training available for the right candidate)

• AutoCAD for 2D drawing creation

• CAD software for 3D modelling

• SAP or ERP systems for routing creation and modification

• MS Project for project planning

• Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies

What We're Looking For

Beyond the technical skills, we're after someone who brings a practical, can-do attitude to work. You'll be organised, detail-focused and proactive — comfortable adapting to shifting priorities and motivated to find better ways of doing things. A professional outlook and strong work ethic will go a long way here.

This is a permanent, site-based role in Stockport, reporting to the Manufacturing Support Manager.
