The Role
As a Mental Health Healthcare Assistant, you will support individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions in a safe, therapeutic, and person-centred environment. You will play a key role in promoting recovery, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing emotional support and building therapeutic relationships
* Supporting patients with daily activities and personal care where required
* Observing, monitoring, and accurately recording patient behaviour and wellbeing
* Assisting with risk management, including de-escalation techniques
* Supporting patients during activities and structured therapy sessions
* Maintaining a safe, calm, and supportive environment
* Reporting concerns and working closely with nurses and multidisciplinary teams
* Encouraging independence and recovery-focused care
Requirements
* Previous care or mental health experience (preferred but not essential)
* Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
* Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and nights
