The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you’ll:
Execute Reactive Maintenance: Respond swiftly and safely to reactive faults across complex electrical installations and wider building services systems, ensuring minimal impact on site operations.
Manage PPM Schedules: Complete critical Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks efficiently, taking ownership of planned system checks, particularly during designated night shifts.
Inspect Mechanical & Electrical Assets: Conduct regular inspections and performance checks on Fan Coil Units (FCUs) and associated plant room machinery to optimise building efficiency.
Diagnose & Repair Faults: Utilise your technical problem-solving skills to accurately diagnose complex electrical faults, execute lasting repairs, and drastically minimise equipment downtime.
Uphold Compliance & H&S: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere strictly to site compliance regulations and health & safety procedures.
Maintain Performance Records: Complete all digital maintenance logs, service reports, and task sheets accurately to maintain a flawless audit trail.
Deliver Premium Customer Service: Work collaboratively with corporate clients, external contractors, and internal teams, acting as a professional, trusted technical face of the business. You
To be successful in the role of Shift Engineer, you’ll bring:
Essential Qualifications: A completed NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification is mandatory for this position.
Commercial Sector Experience: Proven experience working as a shift technician, electrical engineer, or maintenance engineer within a high-spec commercial building or corporate office environment.
Strong Maintenance Knowledge: Deep technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, building management systems (BMS), and core building services infrastructure.
Fault-Finding Capability: Demonstrable experience handling a heavy mix of reactive maintenance and structured PPM routines, backed by strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
An Elite Professional Demeanor: Outstanding communication skills combined with a polished, client-facing approach suitable for high-profile financial or corporate environments.
