GSL Education Hull is seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist vocational education school in Hull. This provision supports young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education and require additional support to engage positively with learning and achieve meaningful outcomes.
The school offers a practical and vocational curriculum designed to develop students' confidence, independence, employability skills, and personal growth. Learners benefit from smaller class sizes, personalised support, and a nurturing environment where positive relationships are at the heart of everything they do.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, SEND, behavioural challenges, and those who may be at risk of disengagement from education.
Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students across vocational and classroom-based learning activities.
Assist teaching staff in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
Support students in developing confidence, resilience, social skills, and positive learning behaviours.
Promote student engagement and encourage participation in learning activities.
Implement behaviour support strategies and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Build strong, professional relationships with students, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
Support students with personal development, emotional regulation, and independent living skills where appropriate.
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
Previous experience working with children or young people in educational, youth work, care, support work, or similar settings.
Experience supporting individuals with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or vulnerable learners is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
