Higher Level Teaching Assistant- Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN provision in Acton, supporting students aged 8-16 with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and can deliver targeted interventions, classroom support and behaviour management within a structured and supportive environment.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant- Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality classroom and intervention support for students with SEN including ASD, ADHD and autism.
Lead small group sessions and targeted interventions to support academic, social and emotional development.
Deliver planned learning activities and cover lessons when required.
Support students with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction skills.
Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement EHCP targets and personalised support plans.
Use behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to support positive engagement.
Monitor and record student progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
Support students both inside and outside the classroom to promote confidence and independence.
Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant- Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker.
Experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, autism and SEMH needs.
Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
Ability to lead interventions and support learning independently.
Understanding of EHCPs and differentiated learning approaches.
Calm, patient and resilient attitude.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred.
