We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent with a strong heavy structures background to support delivery on a major HS2 project in Wendover.
This role will involve taking responsibility for the successful delivery of complex reinforced concrete and structural packages, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and implementing the construction strategy, including pre-construction planning, methodology, and programme development
Lead the delivery of heavy structures packages, including:
Bridges, viaducts, abutments
Reinforced concrete works (bases, walls, decks)
Associated temporary works and complex sequencing
Manage and coordinate the site engineering team, ensuring effective performance and development of engineers
Allocate and manage labour, plant, materials, and temporary works to meet programme and budget requirements
Ensure all works are delivered in line with design specifications, method statements, ITPs, and HS2 standards
Oversee production and review of key documentation, including:
RAMS
Work Package Plans
Quality and Environmental
Manage subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and quality expectations
Monitor site progress and contribute to:
Short-term planning
Progress reporting
Risk management and mitigation
Support commercial activities including:
Cost control
Procurement
Forecasting and reporting
Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) standards
Liaise with the Agent, design teams, and stakeholders to resolve technical and construction issues
Requirements
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Proven experience as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer on major infrastructure projects
Strong background in heavy structures, including:
Reinforced concrete works
Bridges / viaducts / culverts
Experience working on HS2 or similar Tier 1 projects (highly desirable)
Strong understanding of:
Construction sequencing and methodology
QA/QC processes and ITPs
Temporary works management
Experience managing engineering teams and subcontractors
Good commercial awareness and experience with cost reporting
Qualifications & Certifications
CSCS Card (White)
SMSTS (essential)
Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator (desirable)
Full UK driving licence
