Senior Data Analyst (GIS + Data Modeling) - UN Agency client (approx 20 w/days) - part time (~4d/week)

For a large UN agency environment, we are looking for a Senior Data Analyst with knowledge of the GIS data standards. Offsite.

• part time assignment - approx. 20 working days spread over approx. 6 weeks (roughly 4 days per week)

The consultant will support two key projects focusing on Data Model & Data Flow Mapping:
1.) Global GIS Project (12 days)
2.) Corporate Field Monitoring Platform (8 days)

Key Deliverable: Data Model & Data Flow Mapping Deliverable

1. Project 1: Global GIS Activities: Review of several baseline documents. The data models and data mappings contained in the documents will need to be reviewed/refined by Senior Data Analyst based on the GIS Capabilities that have been identified in the discovery (to be provided). The Senior Data Analyst should be able to provide recommendations to ensure alignment with GIS standards and best practices.
2. Project 2: Corporate Field Monitoring Platform Activities: Review of several baseline documents. The requirements will need to be reviewed and the conceptual and logical data models plus data mapping will need to be created/defined and refined by the Senior Data Analyst. The Senior Data Analyst should be able to provide recommendations to ensure alignment with best practices.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

• Review several baseline documents for both projects (Global GIS and Corporate Field Monitoring Platform)
• Refine and enhance existing data models and data mappings based on identified GIS capabilities from the discovery phase
• Develop conceptual and logical data models as well as data flow mappings for the Corporate Field Monitoring Platform
• Provide expert recommendations to ensure full alignment with GIS data standards and best practices
• Consult and collaborate closely with subject matter experts, the Enterprise Architecture Team, and the Global Data Office Lead Data Engineer/Data Analysts
• Lead or participate in meetings to review and present the Data Model & Data Flow Mapping deliverables to the project team
• Participate in the weekly project discussion meetings (1 hour per week)

Assignment Structure:

• Global GIS Project: Mondays + Tuesdays for 6 weeks (12 days total)
• Corporate Field Monitoring Platform: Wednesdays + Thursdays for 4 weeks (8 days total)

Required experience:

• 7+ years as Data Analyst/Data Modeler
• Proven experience in GIS-related data projects
• Strong English (written and spoken)
• Strong background in Data Modeling (conceptual & logical)
• Solid GIS knowledge and practical experience with GIS data standards
• Experience with geospatial data platforms (GeoNode, QGIS or similar)
• Data flow mapping and system integration
• Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills
• Previous work in UN or international development organizations is a big plus
