Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

Support Worker- Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join a specialist SEN provision in Chelmsford, supporting children and young people aged 8-16 with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them achieve positive educational, emotional and social outcomes within a structured, safe and nurturing environment.

Support Worker-Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN including ASD, ADHD and autism.
Support students with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction.
Assist students both inside and outside of the classroom to encourage engagement and participation.
Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required.
Support teachers and SEN staff with classroom activities and differentiated learning.
Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote confidence, wellbeing and independence.
Monitor student progress, behaviour and wellbeing and report concerns appropriately.
Support safeguarding procedures and follow all school policies and guidelines.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral staff and parents/carers.
Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Support Worker-Candidate Requirements

Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ASD, ADHD or SEMH needs.
Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
Calm, patient and resilient approach.
Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Experience within schools, youth work, care or alternative provisions is desirable.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred.
