The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative tooling solutions for complex nuclear decommissioning environments. This is a key role driving projects from initial concept through to fully deployable systems.

This opportunity would suit professionals currently working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, Design Manager, Engineering Manager, Mechanical Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Technical Lead, Systems Integration Engineer or Engineering Consultant.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Lead the development of specialised mechanical tooling, progressing concepts through testing and into final production-ready solutions
Oversee and coordinate a small team of engineers and designers to define requirements and deliver robust engineering outputs
Act as the primary point of contact, managing the full lifecycle from initial brief through to final handover to operational teams
Work collaboratively with internal departments, manufacturing teams and external partners to ensure successful delivery
Ensure all engineering outputs meet relevant standards, safety requirements and quality expectationsYou will have the following qualifications and experience
Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
Extensive industry experience, typically 10+ years in mechanical engineering or a similar environment
Strong understanding of CDM regulations and the production of technical design documentation, including drawings, method statements and risk assessments
Experience working to established engineering standards, procedures and best practices within regulated settings
Ideally, exposure to decommissioning projects or working with hazardous materials or legacy facilitiesGet in touch now
