A well-established and growing manufacturing business is looking for an experienced QHSE Manager to lead its Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental function, while also helping shape the company’s wider ESG and sustainability agenda.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can operate strategically while staying close to day-to-day manufacturing operations. You will take ownership of management systems, compliance, audits, continuous improvement, safety culture, quality performance and environmental initiatives across the business.

The company is looking for a confident QHSE professional who can influence at all levels, drive standards, support operational excellence and embed a culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement.

The Role

As QHSE Manager, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving integrated management systems across quality, health, safety and environmental standards. You will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure the business remains compliant, audit-ready and focused on continual improvement.

You will also take a leading role in sustainability and ESG activity, helping to define objectives, monitor performance and support practical initiatives around carbon reduction, waste, energy usage, employee wellbeing, governance and responsible business practices.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and improving QHSE management systems in line with recognised standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
Managing internal audits, external certification audits and regulatory inspections
Promoting a proactive health and safety culture across the business
Leading risk assessments, hazard identification, incident investigations and corrective actions
Overseeing product and process quality standards within a manufacturing environment
Ensuring compliance with relevant UK health, safety and environmental legislation
Supporting environmental initiatives focused on reducing waste, emissions and resource consumption

About You

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a QHSE, SHEQ or HSEQ management role within a manufacturing or operational environment.

You will be comfortable leading audits, improving systems, influencing stakeholders and working both strategically and practically. You should be someone who is visible on the shop floor, confident with senior stakeholders and able to bring people with you when driving change.

Essential Experience

Previous QHSE / SHEQ / HSEQ management experience within manufacturing
Strong working knowledge of ISO management systems, particularly ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
Experience leading audits, corrective actions and compliance activity
Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
Experience managing risk assessments, incident investigations and improvement plans

Desirable Experience

ESG, sustainability or carbon reduction experience
Experience with sustainability reporting or environmental performance metrics
Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement experience
Experience supporting more than one site or working across multiple operational areas

Skills and Personal Attributes

The right person will be:

A strong leader with excellent influencing skills
Confident communicating across all levels of a business
Analytical, organised and data-driven
