Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Vehicle Bodyman to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality body repairs, accident damage repairs, panel replacement, and restoration work on commercial vehicles, buses, coaches, HGVs, and fleet vehicles. The role requires a strong understanding of vehicle body structures, repair techniques, and industry safety standards to ensure vehicles are returned to service safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Accident Damage Repair

- Assess and repair damaged vehicle bodywork following collisions or operational damage.

- Carry out structural and cosmetic repairs to vehicle bodies.

- Restore vehicles to manufacturer and company standards.

- Identify repair requirements and determine the most effective repair methods.

Panel Repair & Replacement

- Remove and replace damaged body panels.

- Repair dents, creases, and impact damage using specialist tools and techniques.

- Fit replacement panels, doors, bumpers, wings, and body components.

- Ensure accurate panel alignment and body fitment.

Structural Repairs

- Repair vehicle chassis and body structures where required.

- Use body alignment equipment and measuring systems.

- Carry out minor fabrication and welding repairs.

- Ensure structural integrity is maintained throughout repairs.

Preparation & Finishing

- Prepare repaired surfaces for painting.

- Sand, fill, and prime repaired areas.

- Work closely with paint technicians to achieve a high-quality finish.

- Conduct final quality checks before vehicle release.

Inspection & Quality Control

- Perform thorough inspections of repaired vehicles.

- Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

- Report any additional defects identified during repairs.

- Maintain detailed repair records and documentation.

Health & Safety

- Adhere to all workshop health and safety procedures.

- Use PPE and specialist equipment correctly.

- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Essential Requirements

- Proven experience as a Vehicle Bodyman, Panel Beater, Body Repair Technician, or Automotive Body Repair Specialist.

- Experience working on buses, coaches, HGVs, commercial vehicles, or passenger vehicles.

- Strong understanding of body repair methods and vehicle construction.

- Ability to use body repair tools, welding equipment, and alignment systems.

- Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable Requirements

* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Vehicle Body Repair, Automotive Repair, or equivalent.

* Experience within PSV, HGV, or commercial vehicle environments.

* Welding and fabrication experience.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Experience using body alignment and measuring systems.
