We are working with a leading UK food manufacturing business operating a highly automated production facility in Coventry. The site has undergone significant investment in both equipment and engineering capability, creating an environment where maintenance is valued and engineers are given the support, training and tools needed to succeed.
This is not a site where engineers spend every shift firefighting breakdowns. The engineering team operates within a structured maintenance framework, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, root cause analysis and continuous improvement. You'll be joining a large team of experienced engineers, giving you the opportunity to learn from some highly skilled colleagues while developing your own technical capability.

Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance across high-speed automated production and packaging equipment
Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, minimising downtime and supporting production targets
Diagnose faults across electrical control systems, motors, drives, sensors and automated machinery
Support root cause analysis activities to eliminate repeat failures
Work closely with production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability
Participate in continuous improvement and reliability projects across the site
Maintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system
Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site standards
Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer:
Apprentice-trained engineer
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification
Electrically biased with strong fault-finding ability
Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, automated warehousing or production environments
Exposure to PLC fault finding, SCADA systems or automation equipment would be advantageous
Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
Strong communication and team-working skills
Engineers from outside of food manufacturing are encouraged to apply if they have experience maintaining automated production equipment.
