Our client, a prominent player in the science sector, is seeking a Chemical Compliance Manager on a contract basis to join their research and science team. This role is critical in ensuring global product compliance across the company's extensive product portfolio.
As a Chemical Compliance Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring products meet international chemical regulations and internal standards. You will provide expert regulatory guidance to various stakeholders within the business and generate valuable insights through competitor analysis. Furthermore, you will contribute to shaping compliance strategies that support business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead chemical compliance activities to ensure adherence to global regulations (e.g. REACH, CLP, GHS)
Conduct compliance audits of competitor products, turning findings into clear insights for business decision-making
Partner with global teams to deliver training on chemical regulations and processes (e.g. GHS classification, Safety Data Sheets)
Provide expert regulatory guidance to R&D, Product, and Operations teams on new initiatives and strategies
Assess and communicate the impact of chemical regulations on products and projects
Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance is embedded in product development
Stay up to date with the evolving global regulatory landscape and identify risks and opportunities
Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes and stakeholder engagement
Job Requirements:
Experience
Experience working with global chemical regulations (e.g. REACH, CLP, GHS)
Proven ability to conduct compliance audits, risk assessments, or impact analysis
Experience communicating complex regulatory topics to non-technical stakeholders
Knowledge of product compliance within FMCG, chemicals, pharma, or similar industries is highly desirable
Skills
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Ability to influence and work effectively across cross-functional global teams
Confident navigating changing and ambiguous environments
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to drive decision-making
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific, regulatory, or legal discipline
Desirable:
Familiarity with AI tools and digital ways of working
Experience in product stewardship or regulatory strategy
Exposure to global product portfolios or compliance in highly regulated industries
