Senior CE&I Design Engineer / CE&I Design Engineer
Location: Warrington or Cumbria
Type: Inside IR35 Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for both an experienced CE&I Design Engineer and a Senior CE&I Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation delivering complex projects within a highly regulated environment. This role offers the chance to work on critical systems and safety-related equipment, contributing to the development and justification of innovative engineering solutions.

The Role
As a Senior CE&I Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering engineering work packages across a variety of Control, Electrical and Instrumentation systems. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support the development, verification and substantiation of safety-related designs while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Key responsibilities will include:

Producing and reviewing CE&I design deliverables and technical documentation.
Supporting the development of functional safety assessments and design substantiation activities.
Delivering engineering solutions that meet project requirements for safety, quality, cost and schedule.
Identifying technical issues, evaluating options and recommending practical solutions.
Contributing to project planning, progress reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Supporting design risk assessments, installation activities and technical queries during project delivery.Requirements
Essential
Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards professional registration.
Experience producing and/or checking Functional Safety and Safety Case deliverables in accordance with IEC 61508.
Strong understanding of CE&I design principles within regulated industries.
Ability to deliver engineering solutions to programme and budget requirements.
Experience applying engineering judgement to solve complex technical challenges.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including CDM, PUWER, BS 7671, Machinery Safety requirements and UKCA/CE compliance.
Experience reviewing and checking engineering drawings and technical documentation.Desirable
Experience producing design specifications and supporting installation or panel build activities.
Knowledge of PLC, SCADA and industrial control system architectures.
Experience producing design risk assessments, installation method statements and quality documentation.
Familiarity with technical file production and Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSRs).
Demonstrable experience making risk-based engineering decisions in safety-critical environments.What's on Offer?
