Therapeutic Residential Childcare Worker
Location: Orpington
Salary: up to £37,000 DOE
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

My client is seeking compassionate and dedicated Therapeutic Residential Childcare Workers to support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, and attachment needs within a therapeutic residential setting.
This unique role combines residential childcare with educational support, working within an onsite school environment during school hours to provide consistency, stability, and positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Support daily routines, activities, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support behaviour and development.
Act as a Key Worker, implementing care plans and supporting individual outcomes.
Work as a Learning Support Assistant within the onsite school during term time.
Support classroom engagement, emotional regulation, and learning.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.
Complete accurate records, reports, and communication with professionals and colleagues.Requirements
Essential:
Experience working with children and young people with EBD, trauma, or complex needs.
Good understanding of safeguarding and child development.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and holidays.
Commitment to achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if not already held.Desirable:
Experience in residential childcare, SEN education, or therapeutic settings.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and attachment-based practice.
