Job Title: Account Manager – Umbrella Payroll Services
Location: Lancaster – 2 days a week (WFH for the other 3)
Salary: £32,000 per annum (Plus uncapped bonus)

Seeking a proactive and client-focused Account Manager to join a growing umbrella payroll business. You will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with recruitment agencies, contractors, and key partners, ensuring a high level of service delivery while identifying opportunities for growth.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in umbrella payroll, contractor services, or recruitment who thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Client Relationship Management

* Build and maintain strong relationships with recruitment agencies and end clients

* Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts

* Deliver exceptional customer service to contractors and agency partners

* Handle client queries, issues, and escalations in a timely and professional manner

Account Development:

* Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts (e.g. increasing contractor volumes)

* Support onboarding of new agency partners and contractor clients

* Cross-sell and promote additional services where relevant

* Monitor account performance and provide regular updates to management

Operational Support:

* Work closely with payroll, compliance, and onboarding teams to ensure smooth service delivery

* Ensure accurate and timely processing of contractor payroll information

* Assist with audits and compliance checks

Compliance & Industry Knowledge:

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK legislation affecting umbrella payroll (e.g. IR35, tax, employment law)

* Ensure all activities comply with HMRC guidelines and internal compliance policies

* Educate clients and contractors on relevant regulatory changes

Reporting & Administration:

* Maintain accurate CRM records of client interactions and activity

* Produce account reports, KPIs, and performance data

* Track contractor numbers, revenue, and service levels

Key Skills & Experience:
Essential

* Experience working in an umbrella payroll provider, payroll bureau, or recruitment agency

* Strong understanding of contractor payroll and compliance (IR35 knowledge desirable)

* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

* Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously

* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable

* Experience in a client-facing or account management role

* Knowledge of payroll systems or CRM tools

* Commercial awareness and ability to identify growth opportunities
