Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri, flexible between 08:00-18:00)
About the business:
We are working with a well-established premium custom carton manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Compliance Manager to take ownership of their Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance function at site level.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on with systems, driving continuous improvement, and playing a key role in shaping compliance, sustainability, and safety performance across a busy production environment.
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Site Director, you will lead the site's HSCE function and manage a small team of two direct reports. You'll work closely with Operations and Quality teams to ensure all processes, systems, and practices remain fully compliant with internal standards, customer requirements, and external regulations.
You'll also play a key role in driving improvements across safety, environmental performance, and management systems - helping the business stay ahead of evolving compliance and sustainability expectations.
Key Responsibilities of a Compliance Manager:
Take ownership of integrated management systems (including Q-Pulse)
Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) and certifications including PS9000, FSC, SEDEX, EcoVadis
Manage audit programmes, documentation control, and non-conformance investigations through to resolution
Work with external auditors, regulators, and customers to maintain full compliance
Analyse compliance data and trends to support continuous improvement initiatives
Oversee supplier audits and performance reviews
Manage environmental compliance reporting, including:
EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility)
Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR)
Net Zero and carbon reduction initiatives
FSC certification and EUDR requirements
Support and drive sustainability initiatives across site operations
Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation and ISO 45001 standards
Promote a strong, proactive safety culture across the siteRequirements for a Compliance Manager:
We're looking for someone with a strong background in manufacturing compliance or HSQE, who is confident working across systems, audits, and regulatory frameworks.
You will ideally bring:
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Strong knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001)
Experience managing audits, non-conformances, and supplier/customer compliance issues
Understanding of UK and EU regulatory requirements
Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel and reporting tools
Confidence communicating across all levels of the business
A proactive, improvement-driven mindset
