THE ROLE
A varied, hands-on position combining team supervision, horticulture, health & safety, and contractor coordination — making a real, visible difference to Kendal's public spaces and community assets.
Lead day-to-day grounds and maintenance operations across Kendal's public spaces and council estate
Supervise a Grounds & Maintenance Assistant and coordinate contractors
Oversee horticulture, allotment sites, civic planting and maintenance projects
Manage health & safety, risk assessments, record keeping and budget monitoring
Support community events and help keep Kendal looking its best year-round
Report directly to the Council Services Manager with real autonomy in the role
ABOUT YOU
Experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture (essential)
Supervisory experience (essential)
LANTRA Level 3 or equivalent horticulture qualification (desirable)
H&S qualification — IOSH, NEBOSH or COSHH (desirable)
Full UK driving licence (required)
Organised, resilient and community-minded — someone who takes pride in high-quality public spaces
