SEND Learning Support Assistant - 1:1 Home-Based Support
Location: Berkshire
Start date: ASAP
Hours: 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday, mornings only
Part-time, ongoing
Quantum Scholars are looking for a caring, patient and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in their home.
The child has a Visual Impairment and Autism, and is also learning English as a second language. They have been out of education for some time, so the main aim of the role is to help them rebuild confidence, develop basic English and life skills, and prepare for a future placement in an SEND school.
This is a gentle, relationship-based role where consistency, patience and understanding will be very important. The successful person will be able to create a calm and supportive learning environment, using simple activities to support communication, routine, independence and engagement.
The role will involve:
Providing 1:1 support in the child's home for 2 hours each morning
Supporting basic English language development, including speaking, listening, vocabulary and simple written work
Delivering basic life skills and independence-focused activities
Helping the child build confidence, routine and readiness for school
Adapting activities to meet the needs of a child with Autism and Visual Impairment
Working in a calm, patient and encouraging way
Liaising with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals as requiredThe ideal candidate will have:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
An understanding of Autism and how to support communication, routine and emotional regulation
Ideally, some experience or awareness of Visual Impairment (VI) support
The ability to support basic English/ESOL learning
A nurturing, flexible and patient approach
Confidence working 1:1 in a home-based setting
A commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people
This role would suit an experienced LSA, Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Tutor or someone with strong experience supporting children with additional needs.
