Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician I

Job Description

Fluent proficiency in at least one non-English language: Dutch required for this role!

You will execute manual and automated test cases, perform cultural and linguistic validation, analyse failures, raise and track defects, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes. Working within a defined test strategy and established Standard Operating Procedures, you will collaborate closely with QA Engineers, QA leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, natural and culturally relevant customer experiences. You must be fluent in at least one of French, Dutch or German and communicate clearly in English for effective reporting and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Execute manual test cases in a structured testing environment, strictly following established Standard Operating Procedures and templates across existing components and new features.
  • Perform cultural and linguistic validation to ensure responses are accurate, natural and appropriate for the target locale, including verifying localisation elements such as date, time, units and currency.
  • Assess linguistic quality by reviewing language fluency, dialect features, colloquialisms, speech fluidity, pitch, tone and overall cultural relevance of responses.
  • Run automated test scripts, monitor their execution, review automation failures and analyse root causes to distinguish between genuine defects and environment-related issues.
  • Gather and interpret logs, traces and error messages to support debugging and provide clear evidence of issues.
  • Reproduce defect behaviour across components and features to validate reported issues and to confirm the effectiveness of fixes.
  • Perform defect verification to ensure that resolved defects no longer reproduce across relevant environments, devices and locales.
  • Create clear, well-documented defect reports with detailed steps to reproduce, expected versus actual behaviour, supporting logs and screenshots.
  • Escalate promptly when test scripts fail repeatedly or when required actions deviate from established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Analyse test results and provide clear, concise reporting on test execution status to stakeholders, partner teams and other relevant audiences.
  • Install and configure software, tools and test environments across multiple platforms, including Mac, Windows, Linux and mobile devices, to support testing activities.
  • Support regression testing by executing test plans across multiple locales, endpoints and devices to ensure consistent quality over time.
  • Recommend improvements to Standard Operating Procedures, tools and metrics to increase testing efficiency, coverage and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and cross-functional partners to unblock testing, share findings and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
  • Apply strong attention to detail to follow documented procedures accurately and maintain high standards of quality in all testing activities.
  • Use productivity tools, such as the Microsoft Office suite, to document findings, track progress and support reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and quality control activities within a broader quality management system, including accurate data entry and maintenance of testing records.
  • Leverage research and analytical skills to investigate issues, identify patterns and support data-driven decisions about product quality.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing in a structured testing environment.
  • Proven experience executing both manual and automated test cases following defined processes and standards.
  • Fluent proficiency in at least one non-English language: Dutch, German or French.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for clear reporting and team collaboration.
  • experience creating and managing defects using bug tracking tools such as JIRA or similar systems.
  • Ability to review automation failures, identify root causes and differentiate between real bugs and environment or configuration issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret logs, traces and error messages for debugging and defect analysis.
  • experience installing and configuring software and tools across multiple platforms, including Mac, Windows, Linux and mobile devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow documented procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Technical aptitude and confidence working with software tools, test environments and device configurations.
  • Self-sufficiency in following Standard Operating Procedures, troubleshooting basic issues and escalating appropriately when needed.
  • Proactive communication skills to keep stakeholders informed of progress, blockers and results without prompting.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the quality and accuracy of test results.
  • experience with quality assurance, quality control and working within a quality management system.
  • Competence using the Microsoft Office suite for documentation, reporting and communication.
  • Accurate data entry skills and the ability to maintain clear, structured records.
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills to support investigation and resolution of issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • experience with cultural and linguistic validation, ensuring that content is appropriate, natural and accurate for specific languages and dialects.
  • experience testing voice assistants, conversational AI or natural language understanding (NLU) products.
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks and the ability to run and review automated scripts, for example using Python, Ruby or Shell Scripts.
  • experience with internationalisation (i18n) or localisation testing across multiple languages and locales.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and a solid understanding of the Software Test Life Cycle (STLC).
  • experience working in Agile or Scrum environments and contributing to iterative delivery cycles.
  • Familiarity with smart home and IoT devices such as Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablet or similar products.
  • Interest in languages, social or cultural anthropology, consumer product internationalisation and large language models.
  • Demonstrated bias for action, taking initiative to unblock testing, pick up available work and support team objectives.
  • Curiosity and a strong desire to learn, develop technical skills, adopt new tools and improve testing practices over time.
