A well-established fire safety consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Fire Engineer to join their growing team, delivering high-quality fire engineering solutions across a varied portfolio of projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident Principal Fire Engineer who is looking to take a senior role within a professional consultancy environment, supporting complex fire safety projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use and high-rise buildings.
The Principal Fire Engineer's Role
The successful Principal Fire Engineer will be responsible for leading fire engineering projects from early design stages through to completion, providing clear technical advice to clients, design teams and key stakeholders.
The Principal Fire Engineer will produce fire strategies, review building designs, advise on Building Regulations compliance, and support wider project teams with practical, commercially aware fire safety solutions.
The Principal Fire Engineer will also mentor junior members of the team, contribute to technical development, attend design team meetings, and help maintain strong client relationships throughout each project.
The Principal Fire Engineer
The successful Principal Fire Engineer will have:
Proven experience within fire engineering consultancy
Strong knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards
Experience producing fire strategies for a range of building types
A strong understanding of Building Regulations and fire safety legislation
Experience liaising with clients, architects, contractors and approving authorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
A degree in Fire Engineering, Structural Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related disciplineChartered status, or working towards Chartered status with the IFE, would be highly desirable.
Experience with fire modelling, evacuation modelling, CFD analysis, smoke control, external wall assessments or complex residential schemes would also be advantageous.
