Sheffield | In-Person | Flexible Hours | Supply Basis

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting enthusiastic, adaptable, and confident SEN Cover Supervisors to work across specialist schools and provisions throughout Sheffield on a supply basis.

This rewarding role involves supervising and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the absence of the class teacher. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning while receiving the support they need to succeed.

Working across a range of specialist settings, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the classroom teacher.
Supervise and support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Adapt activities and communication styles to meet individual pupil needs.
Support behaviour management strategies and encourage positive engagement.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and wider school staff.
Provide feedback on pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement throughout the day.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role is desirable.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
A patient, flexible, and proactive approach.
Confidence leading groups of students and managing behaviour positively.
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.Experience within specialist schools, alternative provisions, or SEN environments would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

Higher rates are available for individuals with extensive SEN experience, previous cover supervision experience, relevant qualifications, and the flexibility to work across a range of schools and provisions throughout Sheffield.
