Sheffield | In-Person | Flexible Hours | Supply Basis

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across specialist provisions and schools throughout Sheffield on a supply basis.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who may face barriers to learning within a traditional educational environment. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, engage positively with learning, and develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed both academically and personally.

Working on a supply basis, you will have the opportunity to support a variety of schools and specialist provisions across Sheffield, gaining valuable experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

The Role

Support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs both inside and outside the classroom.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
Support the implementation of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals to support pupil progress.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional support requirements.
A patient, calm, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to remain professional and adaptable in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.Experience in education, youth work, residential care, support work, coaching, mentoring, or similar roles would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
