Maintenance Plant Fitter (Mechanical)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a stable, long-term career with varied, hands-on engineering work?

We are seeking a Maintenance Plant Fitter to join a busy industrial operation in the Frome area. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of heavy production equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and working on large-scale mechanical plant in a safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Respond to mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities
* Support preventative maintenance programmes and shutdowns
* Conduct welding and fabrication work as required
* Diagnose faults and identify root causes of equipment failures
* Complete maintenance records using a CMMS system
* Assist with continuous improvement projects
* Coordinate contractors and ensure safe working practices are maintained

What We're Looking For

* Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
* Experience within heavy industry, manufacturing, processing, production, utilities or plant environments
* Strong fault-finding and breakdown repair experience
* Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings and drive systems
* Welding and fabrication skills
* Strong health and safety awareness
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
