We are currently recruiting on behalf of a national consultancy who are looking for an ambitious Civil Engineer with 1-2 years of post-graduate experience to join their growing team in Taunton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to develop their career within a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and infrastructure sectors, working alongside experienced engineers on schemes ranging from housing developments and commercial business parks to schools, healthcare facilities and mixed-use developments.
The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will support the delivery of civil engineering design solutions across a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the design of highways, drainage and external works schemes.
Preparing technical drawings, calculations and engineering reports.
Designing surface water, foul water and SuDS drainage systems.
Producing highway and infrastructure designs in accordance with relevant standards.
Supporting the preparation of planning applications and technical approval submissions.
Liaising with local authorities, statutory bodies, clients and design teams.
Attending site visits and project meetings as required.
Assisting senior engineers with project delivery and coordination.
Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
1-2 years' experience within a UK engineering consultancy environment.
Experience working on infrastructure design projects, ideally including highways and drainage.
Working knowledge of UK design standards and approval processes.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Experience with drainage design software such as MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow would be advantageous.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Enthusiastic, motivated and eager to continue professional development.
Desirable
Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.
Experience preparing technical reports and design calculations.
Knowledge of Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements.
Understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) design principles.
