Junior Accountant

A privately owned, multi-entity SME group (c. £40m turnover) is hiring a Junior Accountant to support a finance function in the middle of a genuine business transformation. This is not a purchase ledger role — it’s a hands-on opportunity to build strong month-end capability and develop quickly with direct exposure to an experienced CFO.
The role (what you’ll be doing)
You’ll take ownership across key accounting areas and support month-end delivery, including:

Accruals and prepayments
Balance sheet reconciliations
Month-end support and contribution to draft management accounts
Transaction processing with understanding (not just posting)
Working across a group structure / multiple entities
Supporting improved controls, reporting and process in a fast-changing environmentWhat this role is not

Not a pure AP/AR position
Not data entry / finance admin
Not passive “tick box” bookkeepingWhat we’re looking for
To be successful, you’ll need:

Practical experience with accruals, prepayments and balance sheet recs
Exposure to month-end (even if not end-to-end)
Studying AAT (Level 3/4) or early stages of ACCA
Strong Excel skills — PivotTables / Lookups
A curious, proactive mindset: you’ll ask questions, spot issues, and improve processesWhy join?

Salary: £28,500
