This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional with an engineering background to play a key role in developing new business opportunities, growing existing accounts, and supporting long-term business growth across the UK.
The successful candidate will combine technical understanding with strong relationship-building skills to deliver customer-focused solutions and drive revenue growth.
The Role
As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities while managing and developing existing customer relationships.
You will work closely with customers to understand their requirements, prepare technical and commercial proposals, and deliver solutions that meet both customer expectations and business objectives.
This role will involve regular travel throughout the UK, meeting customers, conducting site visits, and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new business opportunities within engineering and industrial markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and technical sales presentations.
Prepare quotations, proposals, and cost estimates.
Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
Manage opportunities through CRM systems and maintain an accurate sales pipeline.
Produce sales forecasts and performance reports.
Work closely with engineering and operational teams to deliver commercially viable solutions.
Monitor competitor activity and identify market opportunities.
Promote aftermarket services, maintenance agreements, and additional revenue streams.
Requirements
Proven experience within Technical Sales, Engineering Sales, Business Development, or Account Management.
Strong track record of generating new business and achieving sales targets.
Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or technical environment.
Commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer requirements and profitability.
Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
Desirable Experience
Material handling industry experience.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience preparing technical quotations and commercial proposals.
Previous leadership or mentoring experience.
